Message Posted By: Peter Rayner

My name is Peter Rayner, but I was born Peter Keep on 12th October 1945 to Kathleen Keep in Harrogate. I was adopted soon after birth, but would dearly love to have news of my birth mother. UKPF have found that she was already married the time of my birth, and probably her husband was away in World War II. She was married on 13th July 1936 to Frederick Jonathan Keep in Gloucester, although she came from Ripon in Yorkshire. Does anyone remember Frederick? Jonathan and Kathleen Keep and any family, who would be my half siblings?

I am looking for a Pete Rayner who went to John Ruskin Grammar School in Croydon with me and Colin Blunt among others. But Pete I think would have been born in 43 or 44.

Its Cranley again,

I drew a complete blank looking for WO2 Frederick KEEP.

I have now retired from the British Army and live in Florida, however the KEEP presentation certificate is still displayed in the Sqn Briefing room, in Mönchengladbach, Germany.

Dear Peter,

I stumbled across your message quite by accident. Frederick Jonathan Keep was my uncle. My mother (Fredericks sister) remembers Kathleen and their daughter Janet. Unfortunately, they did not keep in touch and she does not know what became of them other than last known living in Guildford. Please do not hesitate to email:

I am Sergeant Cranley Hudson RE of 14 Geographic Squadron Royal Engineers, based in Germany.

The Officer Commandig has tasked me with researching and presenting the Squadrons history from its formation in 1825.

The name WOII Frederick Jonathon KEEP has come up as we have a certificate of his presentation of the French Croix de Guerre avec Etoile dArgent medal on 3rd April 1945.

I would be very interested to find some more about WOII KEEP and would ask that you reply to if possible.

Thank You

Cranley Hudson
