I am searching for Prof. Derrick Rowley. He was born in 1922 in Bradford, and educated at Bradford Boys’ Grammar School and then at Bradford Technical College, now Bradford University. He accepted a Professorship in Australia in 1959. I am an old friend, and would so much like to be in touch again after all these years.

Bradford Grammar Boys School have a Read Book which lists individuals from each year with their last known location. I know as my brother went there. They should be able to find his last known address through that or the Alumni Association.
Hope you can find them through this.

Dear Ms Fowler,
I am sorry to tell you Derrick died a few years ago. I worked with him in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology at the University of Adelaide for 23 years until his retirement in 1988. He went on to do further scientific work until he was struck down by Mesothealioma. Another person in our department was Douglas Hardy who I believe you would also know from your school; Im afraid he too has passed away. If there is more you would like to know or contact details for Derricks wife or children please contact me.
Kind Regards Tony Richardson

I typed the name into google and came up with a huge page on him - this is the IP address:

PROFESSOR DERRICK ROWLEY
B.Sc,(Hons,) Ph.D, MB, BS. AM
1922-2004

Im sad for you that youve now learned your friend has passed away, but isnt it great that there is this page on him. It states the name of his wife, etc. if you type in Australian white pages, perhaps you can locate residential contact address/phone for the family:
ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS: We are most grateful to his daughter Della and his wife, Mrs. Betty Rowley for her suggestions and family photographs.
